Piano removal in Leeds

Heavy, and not designed to be tipped
Upright pianos are often well over 200 kilos, and much of that is a cast iron frame inside, holding the strings under considerable tension. They are top heavy, the castors are weak, and the lid and keys are fragile. A piano moves a few centimetres at a time on the flat, and stairs add a great deal of risk. If the piano is upstairs, or the front door has a step, we need to know before we agree a date.
Grand pianos are another matter: they have legs and a lyre to come off, and they are moved on their side on a board. Digital pianos and keyboards are far lighter but are electrical, so mention them in your photos. Never try to dismantle a piano yourself. The strings can be dangerous, and the frame is far heavier than it looks. If it is a tired old upright with no future, we plan to take it apart on site where a safe lift is not possible.

Where pianos go
A piano in decent condition may still be wanted by someone, so it can be worth asking a local tuner or a music teacher before you book. If it is beyond use, the frame is cast iron and steel, the case is timber, and both can be sent for recycling once the piano has been taken apart. Whatever cannot be recycled goes for energy recovery.

Mention them in your photos. They are electrical, so we confirm what we can take and do not promise it in advance.
The piano is out of tune and falling apart. Does that matter?
No. Condition does not change how it is lifted. It might change where the parts go.
