Skip hire or waste removal in Leeds?
Three routes get rubbish out of a Leeds house: hire a skip, take it to a household waste site yourself, or book a van and crew to load it for you. Each one is the right answer for some jobs. None of this is about price, because the price of any route depends on the job. It is about who does the work, what you need to arrange and what paperwork you end up with.

When a skip is the better choice
If you are gutting a kitchen or clearing a garden over a week or two, and you have a drive or a permitted spot, a skip lets you fill it at your own pace. You load it when it suits you and it goes when it is full. A van collection is one visit, so it suits a job you can point at all at once.
When the household waste site is enough
A car boot of bags, a broken chair or a few offcuts is a job for the household waste site if you can lift it yourself. The sites are set up for residents in private cars, and the council has rules on vans and trailers, so check leeds.gov.uk for the current position before you set off.
When a van and crew wins
Most Leeds streets are stone terraces with no drive and nowhere to stand a skip. Many homes have three floors and a narrow stair. If the waste is heavy, upstairs, or you cannot lift it, a crew that carries everything is the point of the service. It is also the quickest route: you send photos, agree the job and we load it in one visit.
The paperwork question
Whoever takes your waste, the law says you must hand it to a registered waste carrier. That is your duty of care as the person who produced it. Is a van collection cheaper than a skip?
It depends on the size of the job. For a room, a loft or a garage a single van visit often costs less than skip hire, permit and the time spent loading. For a very large job a skip can cost less. Send photos and we tell you honestly which fits.
Do I need a permit for a van?
No. The van parks like any vehicle. If the street is tight, tell us so we can plan the parking.
Can I put anything in a skip?
No. Skip companies exclude items such as asbestos, chemicals, paint and gas bottles, and many also refuse electricals and plasterboard. Ask the skip company for their list.
Which route gives me a transfer note?
A registered carrier can give you one whichever route you choose. We give one with every job.
