Bunk bed removal in Leeds

Two beds in one, joined by long bolts
A bunk bed is usually built to be rigid. The uprights are tied to both bed bases with long bolts, and often to each other with a ladder rail, a safety guard and extra cross-braces. That is exactly what you want when a child is asleep on top. It is also why the bed is stubborn to take apart, especially if it has been assembled for years and the bolts have rusted or the wood has swollen.
Some bunks split into two separate single beds, and some are fixed at height like a cabin bed or a high sleeper, with a desk or wardrobe built underneath. Everything is much easier to move once it is in pieces, but the pieces are long. A ladder or a side rail may only go down the stairs at an angle, so the route matters more than the weight.

What we do on the day
Mattresses off first
Clear both mattresses and all bedding and toys from the frame, and tell us about the mattresses.
Unbolt in a set order
We remove the ladder and guards, split the levels and lift out the slats.
Carry the long pieces carefully
Uprights and rails are angled through the door and down the stairs without marking the walls.
Load and tidy
Everything goes in the van and any loose bolts are collected and taken with it.
Where a bunk bed goes
A bunk in good condition, with its safety parts intact, can sometimes be reused, and we will always tell you if that looks possible. More often the pieces are pine, MDF and steel fixings, so timber and metal are separated for recycling, and the remainder goes for energy recovery.

Do you take bunk beds that are already dismantled?
Yes. A pile of slats and rails is quicker for us. Tell us how many pieces there are so we can plan the load.
Can you remove a cabin bed with a desk underneath?
Yes. Send a photo showing how the desk is attached. These are often fixed to the bed frame and take longer to separate.
The bolts are rusty or stuck. Does that matter?
Not to us. We bring tools for stubborn fixings. Older bunk beds often fight back, so allow a little extra time.
Do you take the mattresses too?
Mention them in your photos so we can confirm. We do not promise to take mattresses without seeing them first.
