Porcelain, cast iron and no way to hold them
Baths are the biggest problem. A modern acrylic bath is light but flimsy, and a cast iron one is often extremely heavy, sometimes needing several people. Toilets and basins are ceramic, and they chip and shatter when dropped, leaving sharp edges. Cisterns hold water in the bottom, and a pedestal basin is tall and narrow to grip. Everything wants wrapping or bagging, and a wet bathroom floor makes it worse.
Shower enclosures add glass, aluminium frames and trays, and a bath panel is a long awkward sheet. Traps, pipework and sealant are best cleared by the plumber before we arrive. On refit days a bathroom can go from full to empty in one morning, so we can time our visit to collect while the fitter is still there and the stairs are not yet full of other things.

Where old suites go
Ceramic and cast iron are hard materials, and they are handled through recycling routes for hard waste and metal where they exist. Baths in good condition can sometimes be reused. Acrylic, plastic and mixed pieces that cannot be recycled are used for energy recovery. You receive a waste transfer note for the load.

Can you take a heavy cast iron bath?
Yes. Tell us that it is cast iron and where the stairs are. It needs several people, and we quote on that basis.
What about the tiles and rubble from the strip-out?
We take tiles and rubble as builders waste. Send a photo of how much there is and whether it is in bags.
Do you take shower doors and glass screens?
Yes. Show us the size in your photos so we wrap it and pack it safely.
