Three places east of the city
Garforth is the largest place in LS25, a former colliery town with its own station, a busy high street and estates that grew as the pits and then the commuters arrived. Kippax is another former mining village a little to the south, with a compact centre and housing spreading out around it. Micklefield is smaller and more rural, beside the railway and the main roads east. Barwick in Elmet sits at the edge with older stone houses and a village feel.
Estates, bungalows and village lanes
Much of Garforth and Kippax is post-war: council-built and private estates of semis, bungalows and short terraces, with drives, front lawns and garages in place of cellars and steps. That is good news for parking and carrying, since the van can often reach the door. Bungalows mean no stairs at all, and they often need an entire house emptied at once. Micklefield and Barwick add stone cottages and older farmhouses on narrower lanes. Garages here are sometimes half converted, so say what has filled them.

Spacious plots, so load once
