Loft clearance in Leeds
A loft is where a house keeps everything it does not know what to do with. Suitcases, Christmas boxes, a cot, some rolls of wallpaper and something in a bag that used to matter. Offload does loft clearance as part of our waste removal Leeds service, working the LS postcodes.

Why a loft needs a plan, not a shove
Most loft floors are not floors. Between the joists there is only a ceiling of plasterboard, and stepping on it means a foot through the bedroom. Stay on boards, and do not walk on bare joists. A homeowner or crew member on a loft that is only partly boarded should carry from board to board and stay near the hatch. Loft ladders and hatch openings limit the size of what can come down, and a head torch is far better than one hand on a phone.
Weight matters too. Not every loft can take a stack of boxes in one place, particularly in older terraces. Whoever is in the loft brings items to the hatch, or we work from the hatch and take things as they are passed. Either way, we pass one item at a time. Insulation should be left in place unless it is old and damaged, and if you are unsure, ask us before it is disturbed.

Where it goes
A loft mixes a bit of everything. Usable furniture and household goods can be reused, timber and metal are recycled, and paper and card go to paper recycling. What is left, such as broken plastic and worn textiles, mostly goes to energy recovery.
We do not name a destination for a given item. Anything obviously hazardous, such as old paint, chemicals or suspect insulation, is not something we take.

Will you go into the loft yourselves?
We do where it is safe: boarded, lit and reachable. If it is not, we work from the hatch and you or a helper bring items to us.
What if the loft floor is not boarded?
Then nobody walks on the joists. Tell us, and we plan around passing items from the hatch.
Do you take loft insulation?
Not as a general rule. If the insulation is old, damaged or you suspect asbestos, get advice first. Tell us and we confirm.
Can you take items the ladder cannot carry?
Send photos of the item and the hatch. Very bulky things sometimes have to be taken apart, and we can say if that is likely.
