Glass changes how we work
The main concern is safety. Older greenhouses often use horticultural glass, which breaks into sharp shards, while newer ones might have toughened glass or polycarbonate sheets. Either way, panes come out one at a time, before the frame is touched, and cracked or loose glass needs careful handling. Please keep children and pets away from the area, and do not try to lever panes out yourself if they are already damaged.
The base is the second question. A greenhouse may sit on a brick plinth, a concrete slab, paving slabs or just bare earth, and the base can be heavier than the greenhouse. Say what is underneath in your photos. We can quote for the structure alone or ask about the base separately. Any staging, pots, compost bags and tools left inside should be cleared or shown to us in advance.

Clear plants, pots and soil, or tell us what needs to go with the structure.
Panes come out first
Glass is removed carefully and stacked for safe handling.
The frame is split
Aluminium and timber sections are unbolted or cut into pieces that fit through the garden.
The site is swept
We sweep the area for slivers of glass before we leave.
Where the material goes
Glass is collected separately, because mixed in with other waste it is both dangerous and harder to reuse. Aluminium frames are metal and recyclable, timber is recycled or chipped where condition allows, and polycarbonate and plastic parts usually go for energy recovery.
A greenhouse in good order might be reusable, but a dismantled one rarely survives the move intact. We cannot promise a destination for any particular part.
Greenhouse removal questions
Can you take a greenhouse with the glass still in?
Yes. It is safer for us to remove the panes ourselves than to have them cracked while you handle them.
Will you take the brick or concrete base?
Mention it in your photos and say roughly how big it is. It is heavy waste and we confirm what we can take on the quote.
What about compost, soil and pots inside?
We do not take soil. Pots, trays and staging can go, and we can advise on the rest once we have seen photos.
Is it safe to leave broken glass overnight?
Keep the area clear of children and pets, and do not try to tidy up shards without gloves and eye protection. We handle it when we arrive.
